Rock N Roll Marathon for Gridiron Heroes
Sunday, November 14, 2010
San Antonio, Tx
Dear Friend,
My name is Vicky Gallegos and I am writing to you on behalf of Gridiron Heroes
Spinal Cord Injury Foundation. Enclosed you will find a brochure with additional
information about the organization. I encourage you to go online to their official
website and view the HBO Real Sports Segment on the home page. Should you
have any additional questions about what Gridiron Heroes is all about you can
contact Eddie Canales founder and director at (210) 849-9250. He along with
his son Chris are the passionate, dedicated men behind the organization. I am
just a friend and admirer.
On November 14, 2010 thousands of people will hit the streets of downtown
San Antonio to run the Rock N Roll Marathon. The majority of people running
will be raising money for Susan B. Komen and breast cancer research. What I
would like to do is raise money for the Gridiron Heroes. I am asking for pledges
in the amount of $1+ per mile. The marathon is 26 miles and I am going to do my
ABSOLUTE best to finish, but it is my first marathon and it will be interesting to see
how far I can get. Can you help out the brave young men of Gridiron Heroes? You
do not have to do any running-just leave that up to me! All you have to do is make
the commitment to send in your pledge after I participate in the marathon. You can
send in a check to the address on the brochure, or pay your pledge online at
www.gridironheroes.org.
I can tell you now that my goal is to go the full 26 miles. My hope is to have at least
250 people sponsor me for $1+ per mile. That would put me at $6,500 for my heroes.
Please help me out by donating $26.00 today!
So why am I crazy enough to run 26 miles? That’s easy:
*My husband is a high school football coach and Texas High School football is my
family’s livelihood. We need to give back, and be sure to take care of the young men
who are injured playing the game. It is going to happen, and the best way to help these
young men is to help Gridiron Heroes be prepared to help the next family.
*Running 26 miles cannot be half as difficult as the struggles these young men have had
to endure. I am choosing to go the distance for them because others have failed to do so.
When an injury occurs, many in the football community turn their heads and go on with
business as usual. These young men need ongoing support and that can’t be done without
your help.
Sincerely,
Vicky Gallegos & Family
